Bumps is a favourite amongst UH rowers, occurring in May. Competitors stake along the Surrey side of the river, above Kew Bridge.

Crews will chase the boat ahead of them, with the aim of 'bumping' (when the chasing boat/blades makes contact with the chased boat/blades, or the bow of one boat passes the bow of the other). 

​

It's a great day for mingling with other clubs, with each crew dressed in costume and an afterparty on the second day.
